Extra props must be awarded to designer James Browne and choreographer Lucas Newland; VELVET is a feast for the visual-driven lovers of cabaret, theatre, song and dance and without these two, some crucial elements of what gels the show together would most certainly be lacking. VELVET shows at The Vagabond in the Garden of Unearthly Delights for the rest of the Adelaide Fringe Festival season - head to the Boogie Wonderland and get lost in it yourselves. The AU Review
—————————————————————————————— While every member of the cast has talents worth mentioning, designer James Browne deserves special mention for capturing so perfectly the glamour of the disco era in his outfits. From Hines’s glimmering golden dress, to Maclean’s peacock-inspired final outfit, to an entire bejewelled S&M club scene, the costuming really pushed the show from a disco performance into a disco experience. Combined with the outstanding work of the performers, these touches made Velvet a fantastic experience of sensory overload that got not only a standing but a boogying ovation.
